American driver, Brandon Davis, of Huntington Beach, earned the 2009 World Challenge GT Championship title by scoring points in every race driving the #10 Ford Mustang GT, sponsored by Applied Computer Solutions and Sun Microsystems. This former Rookie of the Year earned three qualifying pole positions, finished on the podium seven times and scored one victory. He displayed his skill as a professional driver on temporary street circuits and permanent road courses with equal finesse completing all 252 race laps throughout the season. Davis credits the team’s reliability as the Ford Mustang endured over 1470 racing miles without a mechanical failure or DNF.
While the 2009 SPEED World Challenge GT season was not dominated by any one driver or team, Brandon Davis took the points lead after three races and held onto it until the finale by scoring in the top ten at every event. At Mid-Ohio, Davis started from the pole and scored a flag to flag victory.
In 2008, Brandon Davis scored two World Challenge GT victories (Long Beach Grand Prix and Road Atlanta), qualified on the pole three times with six podium finishes in the 10 races. At Long Beach Grand Prix, his fastest race lap time (1.26.205 / avg 82.185 mph) remains unbeaten. He finished the season Third in Championship points.
From 2004 – 2007, he drove the Real-Time Acura TSX in SPEED World Challenge Touring Car Championship. Davis earned the 2005 Rookie of the Year honors and scored an impressive eight top ten finishes in 11 events and his first career pole position. Davis’ first victory was the closest finish in series history of 0.005 seconds lead at the 2006 Grand Prix of Denver. He ended the year with nine top ten finishes. In 2007, he placed in the top ten four times including a third place at Laguna Seca. After the third place podium celebration, he suited up for the World Challenge GT race with his father, Mike Davis, in a Saleen SR finishing 12th.
The father and son team made their racing debut in the BFGoodrich Trans-Am Series on Father’s Day in 2004 at the Portland International Raceway. Brandon Davis raced in the #99 Spy Ford Mustang at Portland, Infineon Raceway and Denver Grand Prix, all with top ten finishes.
Brandon took his first laps in a go-kart at seven years old and to this day, he races shifter karts. Davis transitioned from go-karts to stock cars at Danny McKeever’s Fast Lane Racing School and with private coaching from Boris Said.
